Position Summary:

The Branch Manager is accountable for delivering superior financial results and best in class customer service by creating a proactive sales and service environment, and maximizing employee productivity and effectiveness. This person is responsible for establishing and enhancing the bank's presence in the local market and developing strong community partnerships. The Branch Manager is also accountable to work cross-functionally with other internal lines of business to maximize growth and profitability. The role is also accountable for risk and compliance management and the optimal operation of the branch.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the team's activities on expanding and retaining both new and existing relationships by understanding client's financial goals; matching client's goals with bank products and services; cross-selling services; partnering with other bank associates by quality introductions, referrals, alliances, networking, and outbound calling efforts in order to achieve a 2.50% cross-sell ratio.
  • Conduct coaching sessions with all branch team members by utilizing tracking sales reports to review sales activities and individual performance in an effort to achieve goals.

  • Oversee operations, including scheduling, proper staffing and handling employee issues.
  • Participate and manage team's participation in community events to adhere to the Bank's CRA goals, and submit required information to track overall Bank compliance.
  • Enhance bank reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Ensure compliance with bank policies and government regulations by maintaining files; following internal audit, loan review, branch operations, and collection procedures.
  • Adhere to operational controls including legal, corporate and regulatory procedures to ensure safety and security of customer and bank assets.
  • Complete annual on-line training courses as outlined by Compliance Officer.
  • Qualify for, register and maintain mortgage lending originator (MLO) status with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing system and Registry (NMLS) according to the SAFE Act.  Perform MLO activities in accordance with SAFE Act.
  • Assist in training new personal bankers.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:

  • 3-5 years in a customer contact/sales position or equivalent preferred.
  • Teller experience preferred.
  • Personal Banking experience preferred.
  • Branch Manager experience preferred.
  • Management experience preferred.
  • Successful record of sales and service excellence with demonstrated sales, sales management, coaching and problem solving.
  • Experience in Small Business development preferred.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential documents and situations.
  • Requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Requires strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and produce high quality accurate work the first time.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced environment.

Training/Education/Experience Qualifications: (Include licenses and certifications)

  • High School education or equivalent.
  • College or other courses related to retail banking preferred.
  • Familiar with bank compliance and operations.
  • Strong managerial and leadership skills.
  • Ability to multi-task.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Hiring, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining and terminating employees.
  • Training, planning, assigning and directing work to ensure the branch’s success.
  • Supervising day-to-day activities, such as customer service, branch operations and attaining goals.
  • Addressing complaints, resolving employee grievances.
  • Holding employees accountable to their Performance and making recommendations for the consideration of merit raises and/or bonuses based on their performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with bank policies and government regulations.
  • Monitoring the schedule and documenting absences.
  • Controlling the branch's marketing budget.
  • Conducting staff meetings to keep staff informed and motivated.

Position Title: VP Commercial Lending

Position Summary:

Makes and services a variety of commercial loans of moderate to large and secure and unsecured loans of moderate to high risk. Develops and manages commercial loan accounts that meet established lending requirements and maximize profitability to the bank with minimal risk. Provides portfolio maintenance and loan administration in accordance with bank loan policies

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Interviews applicants interested in obtaining middle market commercial loans.

  • Gathers credit application information concerning business needs, desires, abilities, and earnings to determine loan needs.
  • Explains loan options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements.
  • Arranges loan decision and notification dates.
  • Negotiates and structures new and renewal commercial lines of credit and loans.

2. Underwrites commercial loans.

  • Orders credit reports, background checks, reference checks, obtains tax returns and financial statements from applicants, and requests other necessary documents for evaluation and analysis, as needed.
  • Evaluates and determines credit-worthiness in accordance with bank credit policies.
  • Makes or coordinates and reviews on-site inspections of collateral as needed.
  • Compiles loan proposal information for presentation to loan committee.
  • Presents loans which exceed credit authority to the loan committee for recommendations and approval.

3. Makes credit decisions to approve or decline loans within credit limits.

  • Makes commercial loans to customers within established credit limits.
  • Communicates credit decisions to loan applicants.
  • Negotiates credit terms and repayments schedules within established guidelines.
  • Initiates written notification of adverse action of all appropriate loans.
  • Orders necessary information to facilitate perfected security interest and other documentation as required.

4. Schedules, coordinates, and conducts loan closings.

  • Reviews loan documents with customers.
  • Obtains customers signature on loan documents.
  • Initiates the disbursement of loan proceeds.

5. Manages loans within loan portfolio.

  • Prepares letters pertinent to maintaining collateral documentation, financial statements and other lending activities.
  • Releases liens such as titles, mortgages, paid notes, etc.
  • Reviews for trend changes in customer portfolio before renewing credit.
  • Handles follow-ups, collections, or delinquent and problem loans as requested.
  • Works in concert with internal and external auditors and corporate credit review staff to ensure compliance with bank policies and procedures and federal and state regulations.

6. Services loans in portfolio to retain high loan quality level.

  • Monitors customers’ financial condition, loan performance and repayment process. Takes appropriate corrective action as necessary.
  • Corresponds with customers with delinquent accounts, counsels borrowers to bring accounts current.
  • Conducts timely field inspections of collateral and inventory held by the bank.
  • Sends written notification to customer for loan renewals, rate adjustments, etc.

7. Develops new business and expands existing relationships of the industries or market areas served.

  • Calls on potential customers, identifies banking needs, secures financial data for analysis
  • and makes proposals for new business.
  • Makes sales calls in the calling program to achieve individually established goals.
  • Participates in civic and community activities to generate visibility and contact for bank.

8. If identified as a MLO ( Mortgage Loan Originator) quoting rates, terms and programs for consumer loan and mortgage requests. Knowledgeably discuss the various loan/line options to best fit the needs of a customer and the bank. Complete the application, appropriate  disclosures, and underwrite the request following bank policy and guidelines (within authorized limits).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:


Excellent PC skills including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, internet and internal software.

Excellent written, verbal, negotiation and presentation skills are needed to achieve sales objectives in a professional environment.

Excellent analytical skills are needed to underwrite and monitor loans and identify business opportunities in a highly competitive and fast paced environment.

Demonstrates high ethical standards and personal integrity to build credibility and trust and enhance the organization’s reputation in the lending community. 

Maintains comprehensive understanding of commercial products offered in the market and keeps informed of all relevant industry trends and practices. 

Ability to share knowledge and skills with junior staff members (Credit Analysts).

Training/Education/Experience Qualifications: (Include licenses and certifications)

College degree in Finance or equivalent work experience required.



5-8 years relevant experience.
